Lag Putting Tips – No More Three Putts

There are two types of putters in this world. You are either a lag putter or a bold putter. I highly recommend you find out which one you are and don’t forget it.
Let me explain the difference. Bold putters see the glass as half full. In other words they are able to take most of the break out of their short putts and hit them with a bit more speed. They are also fearless of 3-5 foot putts because that’s what they are faced with most of the time.
You see when you are a bold putter you are going to hit a lot of putts past the whole. That is the result of rolling the ball with more speed. One last thing about a bold putter, they make a lot of putts however they THREE-PUTT often. They make a lot of birdies and a lot of bogeys.
On the other hand you have the lag putters. I have to share something with you that you might find interesting. I am a bold player from tee to green but I am a lag putter by nature. And to take it a step further, putting is the best part of my game.
There are a couple of things you have to know about lag putting. Number one you will be more consistent than a bold putter. You won’t make a ton of birdies but you will avoid three putts.
The second thing that comes to mind as a lag putter is that you can gain and maintain a lot of confidence on the putting green. You won’t have the ups and downs of a bold putter.
There are a couple of things I want you to remember as you decide whether or not you are a lag putter or not.
#1. If you are a good putter whether you are a lag putter or bold putter-DO NOT CHANGE.
#2. If you are struggling with your putting I am a big fan of trying to convert to lag putting.
#3. I have one major believe. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. It is really difficult to be a lag putter on the long ones and a bold putter on the short ones.
#4. Best tip if you are trying to convert to lag putting. FEEL AS THOU THE BALL IS GOING TO FALL INTO THE FRONT OF THE CUP!!!
5. Count how many three-putts you have from hitting your putts PAST the hole versus SHORT of the hole.
