How To Increase Golf Clubhead, Swing Speed

by · Leave a Comment

Learning the secret to how to increase your golf clubhead speed will unlock the door to much longer drives that can be up to 30 yards or more longer than before. The key is to find some simple, yet effective tips and golf swing training exercises you can do daily to get even faster results.

There are a couple of elements that can enhance the speed at which you swing your golf club. Core strength and flexibility should be at the TOP of your list. The golf swing requires a high level of rotational speed, and the ONLY way to achieve it is having a stronger, and more flexible core area.

Core Golf Muscle Training

Don’t let the subheadline of this section scare you. Especially the “training” word. What I’m referring to is simple, effective, in-home golf swing training exercises that you can do with a single dumbbell, medicine ball, exercise tubing, and even the big ball. You MUST focus on rotational movements that replicate your golf swing. Doing crunches or straight leg raises will NOT help you increase your clubhead speed. Every core (ab) movement you ever do for golf should be rotational in nature. You heard it here first :)

Swinging A Weighted Golf Club

You’ve seen them before. Those weighted golf clubs you can make actual golf swings with. This is a fantastic training tool to add clubhead speed and power to your golf drives. You’ve got to do it right though. You need to ease into swinging this club faster and faster. The first day, make full swings at 50% speed. Next day off, then the following day, at 60% speed. Day off then 70% speed, and so on… until you are swinging the weighted club at near maximum speed. When you build up to this fast swing with a weighted club, you will be swing your “normal” weight club up to 15 mph’s faster.

Improve Wrist Lag In Golf Swing

Creating and retaining wrist lag in your golf swing is a surefire way to higher clubhead speeds through the golf ball. Many, many beginner and amateur golfers lose their wrist lag too early in their downswing and have just given up over 50% of the speed before they even hit the golf ball. First off, learning the proper golf wrist cock is essential to achieving higher clubhead speeds.

There are several other tips for increasing clubhead speed but I don’t want to give you too many all at ounce :) Instead, consume and apply these; see what kind of results you get from it; then come back for more tips.
