Golf Stretch For Bigger Backswing

by · Leave a Comment

Golfers struggle to make a full backswing. The effort is there, but the physical capability is not. Making a bigger backswing takes focused training with golf specific stretches targeting the exact golf muscles used in your backswing. This is an easy fix for golf shoulder turn issues. All you’ve got to do is a simple golf stretch like the one below, and you’ll quickly see improvement in your backswing range of motion.

Notice how I’m doing this right in my office with a golf club. I am sure you have an extra club laying around to be able to do the same thing. I like this stretch so much I even have it on the cover of my stretching ebook. Notice the resemblance between the two pictures :) It targets a very specific muscle (the lead rear area of the shoulder). This is a very tight muscles with most golfers, especially if the aging bug is creeping up on you.

Improving in golf by stretching is something that cannot be ignored!

Golf Backswing Stretch

Instructions:
• Sit in chair and extend left arm in front of you (if you are a right handed golfer).
• Take both hands and put on top of club.
• Drop upper body down against club to feel a stretch in your left shoulder.
• Hold for at least 15 seconds, repeat once more.

Benefit to Golf Swing:
• Improve back swing range of motion, allowing for a bigger shoulder turn and generating more club head speed.
• Stretch back of shoulder for more range, but with-in golf swing.
• Indirectly improve trunk rotation while maintaining golf posture.

This is one stretch out of many in my Total Golf Stretching Downloadable Ebook.
