Golfers elbow is one of the most frustrating golf injuries. We’ve put together some tips to help cure golfers elbow and get you playing pain-free, injury-free golf for years to come. There are many causes of this nagging injury, and we’ll list some of the more common ones right here, but here are the symptoms to know you are experiencing golfers elbow.

Symptoms

Pain and tenderness on the inner side of your elbow. Sometimes the pain extends along the inner side of your forearm.

Stiffness. Your elbow may feel stiff, and it may hurt to make a fist.

Weakness. You may have weakness in your hands and wrists.

Numbness or tingling. Many people with golfer’s elbow experience numbness or a tingling sensation that radiates into one or more fingers — usually the ring and little fingers.

The pain in the elbow may come on suddenly or gradually. It may also get worse when you:

Swing a golf club

Shake hands

Turn the nob on a door

Use your palm to pick something up

Flex your wrist toward your forearm

Treatments

Rest. You’ve go to back off what’s irritating your elbow. Unfortunately that means golf, until the pain goes away. If you come back prematurely, it will only be worse.

Ice the affected area. Use packs of ice on the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Up to 4 times a day for the first few days. To make sure you don’t damage your skin, use a thin towel. You may also want to rub the area with an ice cube for 5 minutes at a time, for 2-3 times a day.

Stretch and strengthen the muscles and tendons. A physical therapist can give you effective exercises, such as squeezing a small rubber ball, and stretching your forearm muscles.

Take the pressure of the elbow. Wrap your elbow with an elastic bandage or use a forearm strap.

Take an over-the-counter pain relieve pill. Try ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Aleve), acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or aspirin.

Consider other medications. If over-the-counter pain relievers aren’t effective, your doctor may recommend a cortisone injection to reduce pain and swelling.

Slowly start hitting balls. Pitching 20 yards even. Make sure you don’t have swing technique issues causing this to reoccur.

Ask your physician if surgery is needed. This is a last resort, but if you don’t respond to treatment, surgery may be an option.

Golfers elbow can turn into a serious matter and keep you from the game for a long time, so act quickly if you get some of the symptoms.

Cure Low Back Pain In Golfers

If you’re one of the millions of people (golfers) with back pain, what are you doing about it? Please don’t tell me you pop a few ibuprofen and you’re good to go. This is not an approach to curing your low back pain, this is only masking the pain til later.

I’m a firm believer in “fixing it”, and this it being your lower back. And I am not referring to surgery. Surgery is your LAST RESORT, and hopefully you never choose it as there is no guarantee by the surgeon that you will be pain-free, and worse yet, you will lose a considerable amount of mobility because typically they fuse several vertebrae together.

There are several simple low back exercises I do everyday that relieve some pressure in my lower back, but I am currently involved in a complete lower back program I’ll talk about it a minute.

One simple exercise I do about every 3 hours is my Lying Knees To Chest Stretch Exercise:

</ce

Instructions:

Lie on floor /ground

Grab knees with both hands

Pull knees in towards chest

Hold for 15 seconds and repeat

Benefit to Golf Swing:

Relieve tension in lower back allowing for a better turn

Improve range of motion to attain a better address position

Stretch and loosen muscles in lower back improving putting posture

I want to tell you about the program I am doing and seeing great improvement in just a few weeks. It’s called Lose The Back Pain, and having done many back therapy/training programs, I can say confidently this is by far the most comprehensive and effective low back pain program I have ever done.

Click on the image below to learn more about this fantastic program!

I’ve heard all the “excuses” to not exercise. Notice how I called them excuses. That’s what they. I want to prove this theory by showing you a simple, very effective golf stretch you do in your office WITHOUT GETTING OUT OF YOUR CHAIR! Now there is NO WAY you can give me the excuse of “lack of time”. You (and I) sit in our office chairs 8-10 hours a DAY.

I have found that when I stay moving while I’m at the computer my body feels so much better, and my energy level stays very high. AND…my aches and pains are not there when I do these simple golf stretches.

I strongly advise you to do this one and then slowly add some more throughout the day targeting different areas of your body. You’ll be amazed at how fast your pain will go away, and how much BETTER you feel, when you take 15 seconds out of your day and do these simple stretches.

I call this simple stretch the Seated Twist:

Instructions:

Sit upright in your office chair, with chest high and back straight.

Reach behind you with one arm, which will rotate your upper body.

While staying very erect, twist as far as you can go and hold.

Twist the other way and repeat.

Go both sides 2-3 times, holding for 10 seconds.

Benefits to the golf swing:

Increase rotation of trunk for an improve “x-factor”.

Loosen up lower back, to reduce strain and tightness, freeing up golf swing.

Improve ability to rotate upper body over a “fixed” lower body, like in your swing.

This is not some mysterious stretch, as you probably have seen it before, and if so, can I ask if you do it regularly? If not, do it right now, and then a couple of times each day.

This is one stretch out of many in my Total Golf Stretching Downloadable Ebook.

Click on the big image below if you want to find out more. For only $20, this golf fitness ebook is well worth it!

I’d like to welcome you and thank you for stopping by my new Free Golf Tips blog. I’m excited to share simple online tips, drills, videos, resources and much more to help you quickly add power and distance to not only your drives, but every club in your bag.

I’ll be covering everything from putting, irons, driver, bunkers, golf swing technique for consistency and power; even as specific as clubface, as well as scoring, fitness and injuries; and maybe even some golf news for fun! You’ll also see some FREE Golf Video Tips that will help beginner golfers too!

We’ll also be building out a BIG section on Mental Golf. This, in my humble opinion, is 90% of the game, just ask Tiger Woods.

Having been online for 10 years helping golfers improve their golf swings, this is a chance to “give back” and help you for FREE. On occasion I will mention a resource that I feel will help you achieve longer drivers faster, but take my word for it, I will ONLY recommend resources I have thoroughly researched and tested myself, so consider me your research guy, so you don’t have to waist your valuable time surfing the net to learn about them, and worse yet, risk wasting your hard-earned money.
